Question

No matter what browser I use, the browser window crashes when selecting a tag.

I've tested on Firefox and Chrome. Selecting the drop down next to a transaction and then selecting a tag crashes the window about half the time. I have to then exit and re-log in. Has happened across several computers.

I'm here to help prevent the window from crashing when selecting a tag for a transaction in QuickBooks Self-Employed, @niagarasailor.

Let's perform some troubleshooting steps to fix this. There are times that the browser is full of frequently accessed page resources, which causes some errors or unusual responses. Let's start accessing your account using a different or a private browser. You can use either of these shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

Once you have add a tag, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. This is done to speed up the process next time you do a transaction in QuickBooks Online.

If issue persists, I suggest contacting our QBSE support team. They have the tools to check your account and investigate it further.

You'll want to create rules for your QuickBooks transactions to categorize recent and past transactions. To learn more about this, check out this link: Create rules to speed up QuickBooks Self-Employed reviews.

We'd love to hear from you if you have further concerns with adding tag for a transactions in QBSE. Stay protected, and have a good day!
