I’ve recently reinstalled quickbooks pro 2009 because of some file system errors. After installation the permanent validation code no longer works.

QuickBooks Pro 2009 was discontinued on March 31, 2011, so permanent validation codes are no longer available. Instead, you can use the trial version of QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2024 to restore your file.

Before you start, remember that QuickBooks uses a backup company file (.qbb) to make a new company file (.qbw). If your backup is on a USB or other external device, move it to your computer’s hard drive. Then follow these steps to restore your file:

  1. Open the File menu and choose Open.
  2. Pick Restore a backup copy, then click Next.
  3. Head to Local Backup and hit Next.
  4. Browse your computer to find your backup company file. It should look like this: [Your company name].qbb. Pick a folder where you want to save the restored file, then click Open. (Make sure it's a different folder than your current file so you don't accidentally overwrite anything.)
  5. 4. When you're all set, just click Save.
