Question

Quickbooks Desktop vs Online

Our small business uses QB desktop and I'm confused about the discontinuation and what QB online is.

Do I have to switch over?

Do I have to pay for both?

What will happen if I don't?

@Green roof plants  They are only discontinuing sales of QuickBooks Desktop for new customers, not existing customers. You're basically grandfathered in for now.

So, no, you do not need to switch over yet, though I imagine they'll continue trying to push you towards QBO.

As to what QBO is, it is a significantly weaker version of QuickBooks Desktop and getting weaker all the time. For examples, browse this forum and you'll see several complaints about their changes.

You don't have to pay for both, though I imagine they'd be happy to take your money.

Thanks! Would you be able to tell me what Oracle is, they keep calling me wanting to talk about QB and such?

@Green roof plants  Google indicates that Oracle is some manner of database software company.

I'd assume they are either some kind of competitor to QuickBooks, or otherwise tied in to QuickBooks.

Or you're getting some kind of scam call. Those are always popular.
