Question

When I print an invoice it doesn't print the boxes and lines, it only prints what I've entered? How can I get it to print everything?

There's an option in the print dialog to print without the boxes and such for use with pre-printed forms.  You probably have that box on.  When you choose Print expand the print dialog and the choose QuickBooks from the menu of options.  You should see a check box there.

Thanks for joining this thread, MagicCCR.

To identify if the issue is with the template, let’s print an invoice using the sample file. Here’s how to open one.

  1. In your company file, tap the File menu at the top and choose Open Recent.
  2. From the list, choose which sample data you want to use and click on it to access the transactions.
  3. Go to the Customers menu to select Customer Center.
  4. Under Customer: Job, choose the client you’re working on to see the Transaction List page.
  5. Next, double-click on the invoice to view more details.
  6. Click the drop-down for Current Template and pick which one to use.
  7. Once done, hit the Printer icon.

If it prints correctly, go back to the original company data and then create a new template.

  1. On the Invoice page, hit the drop-down for the Current Template to choose the New template menu.
  2. When the Layout Designer page opens, select the information you want to see on the form.
  3. From there, you can add a logo, change the fonts, and add text boxes or borders.
  4. Once done, click the File menu at the top and choose Save As to enter the form’s name.
  5. Hit OK to keep the changes.

Hi mridea,

Let's make sure that you'll be able to print the boxes and lines on the invoice.

Have you tried using another invoice template? QuickBooks stores individual print settings for each type of form.

You can try both troubleshooting options to see if that resolves this.

Solution 1. To reset the printing preferences, here's how:

  1. Open the transaction.
  2. Simultaneously press the ControlCommand, and Shift keys.
  3. With all 3 buttons held down, click the Print button on the check or sales form.
Solution 2. If you want to delete the preferences file, follow these steps:
Note:  A new preferences file will be automatically created when you reopen QuickBooks.
  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Delete preferences file found in :  Hard drive > Users {user name} > Library Preferences com.intuit.QuickBooks[Version].plist
  3. Reopen QuickBooks.
Let me know what you come up with, I'm here to help if you need it.
