I need to edit an invoice. The advice you provide does not work

It's very easy to edit an invoice in QuickBooks Online. Just open it, make any changes, and click Save and close. Just a heads-up that editing invoices after receiving the payment will affect some reports.

Can you tell us if you're getting an error when editing the transaction? A browser issue might have prevented you from editing it.

If you haven't already, please log in to QuickBooks using an incognito window and edit the invoice from there. You can also clear the cache since it can cause errors.
