To complete your end-of-year payroll with the ATO, you need to process a finalisation event. You can do this by creating an update event in QuickBooks, which notifies the ATO that you’ve made your final payments for the financial year..

 

First, ensure you’ve successfully lodged your last standard pay run for the financial year with the ATO.

 

To create your finalisation event:

 

  1. Go to All apps, click Payroll, then select Employees.
  2. Click the Reports and choose Single Touch Payroll.
  3. Select Create Update Event.
  4. Choose the relevant Financial Year and Pay Schedule, then select Create.

Once everything is accurate and marked as final, select Lodge with ATO to submit the event.
