How to sort estimates by estimate number?

Dear all; I have Estimates number as 2510-1011.1 and also have 2510-1019, 2510-1918. When I display all estimates, and I tried to sort by clicking at the No. column header, the Descending sequence appears with 2510-1011.6 first before the 22510-1019, or 1018. How do I sort the Estimates by No.? Many thanks in advance. Best Regards, JY

Sorting the numbers in an estimate in descending order depends on a number of factors, including the system being used and the way the numbers are entered, @signage. Different software systems use distinct methods to organize and sort data, and this includes QuickBooks Online (QBO). In QBO, the default sorting method is based on how the numbers are entered and formatted, which can sometimes lead to unexpected or unintended sorting results.

For example, when dealing with estimates that include numbers like "2510-1011.6" and "2510-1019," you might notice that "2510-1011.6" appears before "2510-1019" even though it might seem logical for "2510-1019" to come first when sorting in descending order. This happens because of the decimal values present in "2510-1011.6," which the system interprets as part of the number. In QBO, sorting takes the entire format of the input into account, including decimal points and other characters, rather than strictly comparing numeric value. This is the default behavior of the sorting algorithm, which may cause some confusion if you're expecting a purely numerical order.

To achieve a more accurate descending order sorting in your estimates, one effective workaround is to remove any decimal values from the number fields before sorting. By entering whole numbers or consistent number formats without decimals, QuickBooks Online will be able to sort your estimates more precisely in descending order, reflecting the logical numerical sequence you expect.
