I'll provide different options and steps on how to view the Invoice no. without opening the transaction. First, you can go to the All Sales page and you'll have the option from there to filter the section to show the No. column.
Here's how:
Choose Sales on the left panel. Then, select the All Sales section.
Click the small gear icon and click the Show more drop-down arrow.
Checkmark the No. box.
Click anywhere on the page.
Second, you can run an Invoice List report and customise this to show the Invoice no column. Please follow the steps below.
Click Reports on the left panel.
Type Invoice List report in the search bar.
Click the Customise button. Then, go to the Rows/Columns.
Click the Change columns link.
Checkmark the No. box.
Hit the Run report button.
