I'll share the common reasons why the products you import as inventory, when uploaded to QuickBooks Online (QBO), are still tagged as non-inventory and help you fix this, Roberto.

Please note that inventory tracking is a feature available only in certain QBO plans. If you are using QBO Simple Start or Essentials, you cannot track inventory. To use the inventory feature, you must upgrade to a QBO Plus or Advanced subscription.

Meanwhile, if you have a QBO Plus or Advanced subscription, you need to enable the inventory tracking feature in your settings.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then select Account and settings.
  2. Choose the Sales tab.
  3. In the Products and services section, click the Pencil icon.
  4. Ensure the box for "Track inventory quantity on hand" is toggled.

  5. Press Save and then Done.

When importing your file, ensure that it has the correct columns and data structure. Any missing or incorrect entries in the relevant fields may lead to the item being categorised as "non-inventory." Before importing, double-check the file to confirm that the Type column for each item is set to "Inventory."

Since you have imported the products as non-inventory items, you'll need to adjust them manually.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Sales menu and select Products and services.
  2. Find the items imported incorrectly as "Non-inventory."
  3. Click the Edit link and change the Item type to "Inventory."

  4. Then enter the required fields.
  5. Once done, click Save.

If you need time to manually edit the items, you can import the products again using the correct settings. Make sure the existing items are inactive to avoid duplicate entries.
