Hello there.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), there is no hard limit on the total number of inventory items you can have. As long as you are on a subscription that supports inventory (Plus or Advanced), the number of products and services is unlimited.

While your total inventory is unlimited, the import tool itself has a limit. QuickBooks can only process up to 1,000 rows in a single Excel or CSV file.

Before we begin, may I know if you receive any error message after it has suddenly stopped? Providing this will help us provide you with a direct resolution.

If you have successfully uploaded the 200 items and it has suddenly stopped, it's likely due to a formatting error in your files that is causing the holdup.

Let's follow QuickBooks formatting tips:

  • The Product/Service name has a 100-character limit.
  • Avoid special characters. See the approved characters list for more information.
  • The Quantity as-of Date format should be this: MM/DD/YYYY or DD/MM/YYYY.
  • You can't use subaccounts for the Income and Expense accounts.

To import your items safely, we can download the sample file from QuickBooks that guides you on formatting your spreadsheet for correct import. Here's how:

  1. Head to the Settings icon, then select Import data.
  2. Click the Products and Services box.
  3. Go to the Import CSV option.
  4. Click the highlighted Download this sample template.
