Make sure you set up and use VAT in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @Niall4. It will enable you to add tax codes to your invoices.
If you're new to QBO, you can follow these steps to set up VAT:
Go to My Apps and select VAT.
Click Set up VAT.
Select Start of tax period and Filing frequency from the dropdowns.
Choose a reporting method and enter your VAT No. (optional).
Click Next, then OK.
Once done, you can create invoices and assign tax codes to them.
If you have already set up VAT and are still unable to assign tax codes, we can try using a private (incognito) browser window to avoid saved data that can slow cloud-based applications like QuickBooks. Alternatively, we can try another supported browser to see if the issue is browser-related.
Feel free to reply to this post if you require additional help adding tax codes to your transactions.
