Question

Hi, how do I enable credit/debit card payments (Visa/Mastercard/Amex) on my invoices so clients can pay by card? Thanks, Lorna

I’ve already set up QuickBooks Payments, but at the moment my account only shows “Pay by Bank” as a payment option. When I create an invoice, clients don’t see a credit/debit card option — only bank transfer. I’d like to enable card payments (Visa/Mastercard/Amex) so clients can pay directly by card. Do I need to apply again, or request Intuit to add card processing to my account?

We can select the card payment in the Payment options dropdown when creating an invoice, so your clients can pay by credit/debit card, Lorna13.

Since you’ve already set up QuickBooks Payments, you just need to ensure the credit card payment option is enabled in your invoice settings. Here’s how to do that:

    1. Log in to your QuickBooks account, then click the + Create button on the menu.
    2. Select Invoice, which will take you to the invoice creation page.
    3. Enter all the necessary invoice details.
    4. Click the Manage gear icon.
    5. Under Payment options, click the dropdown menu and toggle Credit card on.
    6. Tick the X to close the Edit default settings section.

After making these changes, your invoices will display credit/debit card payment options to your clients, allowing them to pay with their cards directly.

If the issue persists, I recommend contacting our Live Payments Support Team. They have the necessary tools to identify the issue and assist you further with enabling card processing if necessary.
