I cannot connect my bank to quickbooks but I have bank statements I can upload so I want a template that is already available that I can copy the transactions into before uploading.

QuickBooks Online does not offer a built-in template for you to copy your bank transactions directly. Instead, you need to create a spreadsheet in Excel or Google Sheets, copy your data into it, and save it as a CSV file using either a 3-column or 4-column format.

When setting up your spreadsheet, ensure it is completely clean of merged cells, formulas, or subheaders, as these will cause the import wizard to fail. Your layout must strictly contain either 3 columns (Date, Description, and Amount) or 4 columns (Date, Description, Debit, and Credit). Your historical books remain completely safe during this process; the system safely holds the uploaded rows in a temporary "For Review" state, allowing you to inspect or delete them before they affect your accounts.

You can also check out this article for further tips on formatting your file: Format CSV files in Excel to get bank transactions into QuickBooks.

Once your spreadsheet columns are organized into one of these two layouts, save it as a CSV. Then, head to Bank Transactions, click the dropdown arrow next to Link account, and select Upload from file to map your columns.
