Hi @user09917,

You can switch from Live Company File to Sample Company File by navigating through the Gear Icon in QuickBooks Online Accountant.

Here’s how:

  1. In QuickBooks Online Accountant, select the Settings ⚙️ icon.
  2. Select Sample company.
  3. A window will pop-up explaining that you’ll be signed out of your firm to enter the demo workspace. Select Continue.

The demo client company is fully equipped with complete data and the default accountant toolset, allowing you to explore its features.

If you have more questions feel free to reply.

How does a person who doesn't have Quickbooks Accountant open this sample file? I only have Quickbooks Online. I keep reading all over the place that there is a sample company to test features without breaking your live data. But now I've spent many hours just trying to find this sample company!!! It's really aggravating!!!

Hello there, Cautious.

I understand how frustrating it can be to spend hours searching for something that should be simple. Let me help clarify things for you and save you some time.

QuickBooks Online (QBO) has a sample company called the QuickBooks Online Test Drive, which allows you to explore features without affecting your live data. Here’s how you can access it:

  1. Go to https://qbo.intuit.com/redir/testdrive.
  2. Select your region, if prompted.
  3. Open the sample company and start exploring its features risk-free.

For security reasons, please be aware that the test company is unable to connect to your bank. To test online banking, please use an active or trial QBO account. Any changes you make will reset after each use, allowing you to experiment freely without worry.

For more details about the QuickBooks test drives, please refer to this article: Test drive and practice using QuickBooks Online.
