Question

It's not letting me delete my account. I already cancelled my subscription. After I click the Delete button, it just keeps logging me out.

Hello there, Jan.

Deleting a company file in QuickBooks Online (QBO) permanently erases all financial data, with no recovery option available. To protect your information, ensure you export or back up your data before proceeding.

Browser issues can sometimes impact account actions, which is why you are redirected to the log-out page after deleting your account. Let me assist you with this.

You can use another supported browser and log in to your QBO account to delete your company file, then follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Cancelled companies page,
  2. Click the three-dot icon, then select Delete.
  3. The system will take you to the Data & Privacy page.

  4. Select Delete, then proceed with Make a delete request and click Continue.

  5. Place a check mark next to the company file you want to delete, then click Continue.
  6. Carefully read the prompt, check the confirmation box again, and select the Delete this Data.

After completing these steps, please wait up to 72 hours to confirm that your inactive company has been deleted. A notification will be sent to your registered email address once the process is complete.

Before removing your company file, here's a helpful article: Move your lists to QuickBooks Online, which explains how to export and import files to keep your data safe.
