My client would like to control their inventory by batch number, is it possible to create the batch number in each row?

Hello there, mdmchongsme.

When using the inventory items on a transaction, we can batch them by using classes. The class feature can be assigned by row on a transaction. Note that this feature is only available in QuickBooks Online Plus and Advanced subscriptions.

Here's how to turn on the class tracking feature:

  1. Click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner and select Account and settings.
  2. Select the Advanced tab and go to the Categories section.
  3. Turn on the Track classes and select One to each row in transaction in the Assign classes field.
  4. Click Save and Done.

After that, we can create and set up the classes as batch numbers. You can follow this link for the details steps: Create and manage classes in QuickBooks Online.

When you go back to the invoice (for example), you can assign these classes per item.

You can browse this link to know more about how classes work in QuickBooks Online: Get started with class tracking in QuickBooks Online.

Feel free to get back to us if you need additional assistance in managing your transactions. Have a great day!
