Hello Villy, QuickBooks requires you to update your card before canceling a subscription, primarily to ensure that any outstanding balances, such as for the current or final month of service, can be successfully charged.

To update your card, navigate to the Gear icon> Subscriptions and billing> View payment history. In the Payment method section, click Edit to modify your card information.

Additionally, to cancel your QuickBooks subscription successfully, you can check out this article for detailed steps: How to cancel your subscription.

After updating your card and immediately canceling the subscription, your subscription will stay active through the current prepaid billing period.

After that, you will have read-only access to your company data for up to one year, allowing you to export data but not create new transactions, while the last card on file will be used for any final charges.

If there's anything else we can assist you with, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re always here to help.
