Question

I would like to create a new QuickBooks Online company starting from January 1st, 2026, in order to restart my accounting with a clean setup.

However, I need to keep access to my existing 2025 company and all its data for reference and reporting purposes. I cannot find the option to create a new company without being asked for new billing information, and I would like to know if there is a way to do this under my current account or subscription.

Hi, contact205. Since QuickBooks bills each company file separately, it usually asks for new payment details when you start a second one.

To skip that for now, just go with the 30-day free trial option. It lets you get the new company up and running without touching your current data. You can still use the same email and user ID for both accounts, making it easy to toggle between them by clicking the Gear icon > Switch company.

Once the 30-day trial ends, you'll have to subscribe by going to the Gear icon > Subscriptions and billing > Subscribe to keep the new company active.
