Hello there, sandra.

I am here to share some insights into why you receive an error while adding a new user after deleting the other user in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

This error will only show if the user is using the same email. You can use another email or click the hyperlink Sign in instead of sign up.

If you're already using a new email, let's perform some troubleshooting steps to get this fixed.

There are times when the browser you're using has data issues, thus causing QuickBooks to act weirdly. To verify, log in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account using a private browser. To do so, press this shortcut key on your keyboard:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Option P

If this works, you need to clear the browser's cache so the system can start fresh. If you get the same result while using a private browser, I suggest switching to a different supported browser.

Moreover, I'm adding this helpful article to learn about the different options for user roles and access permissions: User roles and access rights in QuickBooks Online.

Please don't hesitate to return to this post if you have other concerns about adding a user to QuickBooks Online. I'll be here to lend a hand. Have a good one!
