Hello there, chittermorree.

QuickBooks Online (QBO) is designed to protect the accuracy of your accounting records. You can't make a service item inactive if it is linked to active transactions, templates, or other dependencies.

If the items is part of recurring transactions, such as invoices, bills, or payments, QBO will not allow it to be marked as inactive, as this could disrupt automated processes. Additionally, you can't mark the service inactive if it is set as a default service item.

To make the service item inactive, modify or delete any linked transactions or recurring templates. This ensures your financial records remain accurate and prevents errors during deactivation while maintaining historical data integrity.
