Create a custom report

Hi all,

I want to create report that has the current stock holding in one column and the sale of product (for a particular date range) in another column, to enable me to see what I have sold in the past 6 months or so and what I have in stock so I can make a decision as to if I need to order more stock.  Rather than run 2 reports and manipulate, are you able to use some sort of report writer to achieve this.
