Advanced Pricing - Change Item Prices rounding issue

The Change Item Prices feature in Advanced Pricing isn’t working correctly for fractional item prices.

For example, I have items priced at $0.01560 per piece. When I use Change Item Prices to increase the price by 10%, QuickBooks changes the price to $0.02 instead of $0.01716.

What makes this even stranger is that there’s an option to turn off rounding, and the “Round up to nearest” setting even lets you choose a rounding increment like $0.01. So why is it rounding to the nearest cent when rounding is supposedly disabled especially when QuickBooks clearly supports pricing out to five decimal places (0.00001)?

This feels like another poorly thought-out implementation in QuickBooks.

Hi @labels1,

It's great to have you here in the Community space. I understand how important it is for the correct price, increased by 10%, to display as expected, especially when the rounding option is turned off. I've prepared troubleshooting steps to help restore your workflow.

Before we begin, I would like to confirm whether you're referring to the AMOUNT column, which displays $0.02. If so, please note that this is functioning as designed.

However, if you're referring to the RATE column, then this is an unusual behavior. I recommend running the Verify/Rebuild data tool. This process can help detect any system errors or damaged data in your company file. It also ensures your QuickBooks software runs smoothly.

First, let's verify your company data:

  1. Go to the Window, then select Close All.
  2. Click File, choose Utilities, then hit Verify Data.

Next, here's how to rebuild your company file data:

  1. Navigate to File, then Utilities, and select Rebuild Data.
  2. QuickBooks will prompt you to create a backup before rebuilding your company file.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Select where you want to save your backup, then click OK. Do not replace another backup file.
  5. Enter a new name in the File name and select Save.
  6. When you get the message "Rebuild has completed", hit OK.

I hope these troubleshooting steps help restore QuickBooks to its usual functionality and ensure the correct amounts are displayed as expected. If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to click the Reply button below. I’m here to help. Wishing you a great day!
