Comparing Budget to Actual Can I have so the overbudget shows as a negative (in red)?

Yes, Doug. QuickBooks Online can display overbudget amounts as negative values and in red. This functionality requires enabling a specific setting in the Customize tab within the report.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. In the Budget vs. Actuals report., click the Customize at the right top of your screen.
  2. Under the General section, check the box labeled Show negative numbers in red.
  3. Select Run report to save and apply the changes.

Additionally, you can automatically show overbudget amounts in red using the modern view. While still on the reports page, click on Budgets under Financial Planning and then select Run Budget vs. Actuals report.
