Hello there, de Castro.

I can provide you with more information as to why there’s an extra line item labelled Cost of Goods Sold in your Income Statement.

If you're referring to the line item underneath the grayed-out Cost of Goods Sold collapsible dropdown, the accounts listed below are all categorized as COGS. A separate Cost of Goods Sold line item appearing below this dropdown is the default account for the report. Transactions that are not assigned to any specific parent or subaccount within the COGS category are grouped there. You have the option to rename it to avoid further confusion.

If you are referring to an extra Cost of Goods Sold line in your report, it indicates that a duplicate account with the same name exists in your Chart of Accounts that has transactions posting to it. You can check your Chart of Accounts and if there are duplicates, you need to delete the duplicate account. Make sure that you don’t use that account in any transactions, and it is not assigned to any line items.
