Hi,

After the recent update to QBO, why do we need to enter the password to print an invoice?

This is really annoying!!!

Hello there, SuperStar777. I'm here to assist you with printing your invoice in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

If you've closed your books in QBO and need to modify or print transactions from that period, you'll be prompted to enter a password. This only occurs if you open the transaction and print from there.

If you want to print the invoice without any modifications, you can directly click the Print button in the Action column on the Invoices page. This way, you'll not be prompted to enter a password.

If there's anything else you need help with in printing your invoice, let me know by commenting below. We're here to lend a hand, SuperStar777.

This is not feasible as we search for an invoice to print it, we cannot go the customer ledger or invoice ledger and search for the invoice to print.

The question is why do we need to enter the password if we want to print an invoice (we are not editing it) we just want to print. why this is changed after the recent update ? every new update is annoying,

2 . customer detail page (app/customerdetail?nameId=xxx) is also confusing, cant move or resize the columns

3. similarly, Vendor detail page has same error/issue

4. new reports view, cant revert to standard (old) view

I can see that being able to print an invoice without a password is convenient and saves time, SuperStar. Let me give you a few details so you'll be guided on what you're supposed to do.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), the system only requires you to enter a password when you open the actual transaction under the closed dates. As mentioned by my colleague @MirriamM, you can directly click the Print button in the Action column on the Invoices page and this doesn't ask you for a password.

Secondly, for the customer or vendor detail page, you can click the three horizontal lines on the upper part of the search bar for the columns to be adjusted. I've added a screenshot for a visual guide:

After that, this will now show in this format:

Next,  you'll only have to click the Switch to classic view option for the report to revert to the old style.

Furthermore, learn what's in the new layout with estimates and invoices. I've added this article for details: See What's New with Estimates and Invoices in QuickBooks Online.

Keep me posted if you have further questions about invoices or anything else in QuickBooks. We'll always be right here to help.
