Fixed asset manager not working after Windows 11

I can confirm QuickBooks Fixed Asset Manager is still an official Intuit product as of February 5th, 2026. This feature is available in QuickBooks Accountant and Enterprise.

When you upgrade your books or install QuickBooks on a new computer, you'll need to upgrade or move the fixed asset data. Each company file has its own fixed asset folder. Depending on how many clients you have, you might have to go through multiple folders to find the correct fixed asset manager file.

Here's how to find the right one:
 

1. Make sure you save a backup of your company file before transferring the client file.
2. Open your client's company file.
3. Go to Accountant (or Company if you're using Enterprise), then Manage Fixed Assets.
4. Access Tools, then Program Options.
5. Click General, uncheck Automatically compress client, then hit OK.
6. Open File Explorer and browse to C:\Users\Public\Documents\Intuit\QuickBooks\Company Files.
7. Look for the "FAMXX" folder. "XX" is the number for the previous QuickBooks version used to open the client file.
8. Open your FAMXX folder and look for the client file. The name of your client file will likely be something like "{0000xxx".

If you see no client file listed to transfer:
 

• You're on a workstation and not the server where you store the file.
• You didn't browse to C:\Users\Public\Documents\Intuit\QuickBooks\Company Files\FAMXX\Clients. Where "XX" is the number for your previous version of QuickBooks.

In the event you still don’t see the file to transfer, try repairing your books. If that doesn’t work, re-install QuickBooks.
