Question

Has anyone had difficulty matching PayPal donations in Quickbooks? The dates are accurate and the account is linked to our PayPal. We have had this issue the past week.

We have donations from last month sent via PayPal and when we click the "match" button it doesn't match. It has us search through a list of donations by date, we then click the date that pertains that specific PayPal donation, but it doesn't allow us to match.

There are two possible reasons why PayPal transactions don't match, @brett44. I'll share them below.

First, the product or service in QuickBooks isn't selected as Sellable. If the Sell this product/service to my customers box isn't checked, connecting to PayPal will not import sales correctly. If you fall under this scenario, we can exclude the transaction and then clear it in the register. It removes it from the For Review list without impacting your books.

Second, the matching product/service in QuickBooks is not a product, but a category. Product category is a feature used to group a list of related products/services. Even if the name matches the PayPal transaction, it can't be used as a product item within a Sale transaction.

For more information about matching items in the Connect to PayPal app, refer to this article: Use the Connect to PayPal app with QuickBooks Online.
