[HELP] Item History Not Appearing in Edit Item (POS 2013 Permissions Issue)

Hi everyone, I need help with QuickBooks Point of Sale v2013.

Issue:

When I open Inventory > Edit Item, some users can see the Item History section/tab for the item, where it shows the transaction history of that item, such as:

• sales

• receiving

• adjustments

• transfers

• why qty became positive or negative

But for other users, Item History is not visible at all.

What I already enabled for the affected user:

• Inventory: Edit item

• Sales History: Access sales history

• Receiving History: Access receiving history

• Adjustment History: Access adjustment history

• Transfer History: Access transfer history (Pro)

Even after enabling those, Item History still does not appear for that user.

My question:

What is the exact combination of security access rights required to make Item History visible in Edit Item in QuickBooks POS v2013?

Would appreciate help from anyone who has actually configured this before. Thanks!

Hey there, Robin. To make the Item History tab visible, you’ll need to log in as the Administrator and adjust the assigned User Group.

In this version, the History tab is often tied to built-in roles, such as Associate or Manager. To ensure the tab appears, move your users into the Associate group and then simply untick any specific rights you want to remove. This is often more effective than creating a new group from scratch, as it ensures the user inherits the necessary history visibility that is pre-set within the default roles.

However, if the tab is still missing, I recommend running the Clean up company data utility. You can find this under File > Utilities > Clean Up Company Data.                                                                         image.png
