Help! Need to back up Quick Books Online Essentials

Hello, I have just moved from Quickbooks Desktop Pro to Quickbooks Online Essentials. I need to make some changes in QBO. I would like a backup so if things go bad I can go back to my previous instance. Will someone tell me how to do this?

Thanks,

Craig

Hi there, @cbc8.

The option to back up QuickBooks Online Essentials is unavailable in the program. For now, this feature is only available in QBO Advanced

As a workaround, you can export your reports and list from QBO and save it to your local hard drive. Here's how:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select Export data.
  3. On the Reports tab, set the date range.
  4. Add or remove items from the Reports and Lists tabs by turning the switch on or off.
  5. Click Export to Excel.

For additional info, you can check out this article: How to download your data from QuickBooks Online.

Moreover, you can look for a third-party app that would help back up your files in QuickBooks. Simply go to the Apps menu and select Find apps. Then, search for the app.

If you need to export other reports and sales transactions in the program, you can use these resources:

Please feel free to reach out if you have any other concerns about backing up your files in QuickBooks. I'm here to help. Have a great day.
