I received payment in 2025 but didn't update until 1/2/26 and now it will mess up my 2025 tax summary.

Hi there, @jshevlin76.  I appreciate you sharing the details of your concern about the incorrect invoice payment date.

Before anything else, did you use QuickBooks Payments to process the payment or did you manually record the payment received outside of QuickBooks?

If you manually recorded the payment, you have the option to delete the payment and re-enter the correct date.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Invoices tab
  2. Find the invoice and tap/click on it
  3. Look for the payment record. You may consider deleting the payment from the invoice.
  4. Then re-record the payment with the correct 2025 date

However, if you processed it through QuickBooks Payments, the transaction is locked due to money movement. In this case, I recommend reaching out to your accountant to reprocess workaround to avoid messing up your tax summary.

Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
