How do I change an Invoice to estimate, I made it wrong thing

You can only convert an estimate to an invoice. You can't convert and invoice to an estimate.

You can, with two tabs open, copy details of an invoice and paste item by item into an estimate

I HAVE THE SOLUTION!

I've been researching a way to convert an invoice to an estimate for months (and even had several calls with Quickbooks Support and they said it was not possible with QBO).

Well, I figured out a way to do this tonight and wanted to share with the community.

Go to www.saasant.com and Export the Invoice(s) you'd like to have in QBO as Estimate(s).

Then go to Import > Estimates (and choose the Invoice(s) you just exported).

Now a window will come up with fields to match, ensure you revise as needed - I only had 3 fields to choose a drop-down for.

Then complete the Import.

Now you'll see those 'Invoice(s)' in QBO in your Estimates list!

This saved me dozens of hours of work, hope it helps you as well.

Yes, just_me is right. Though converting an estimate to an invoice is possible, the option to change it back isn't available. We can work on this by manually recreating the estimate and deleting the invoice after. This helps prevent duplicate transactions.

You can also go to Audit Log to check for the details of the deleted invoices.

Here are the steps on how to delete the transaction:

Go to Accounting, and select Transactions.
Select All Sales then locate the transaction.
In the Action column, choose the dropdown and click View/Edit.
If you want to include the date and reason you’re voiding or deleting the transaction, enter that info in the Memo or Message section. Then select Save.
Select More in the footer. Then select Void or Delete.
Select Yes to confirm.

This is so extremely frustrating! I am not sure how my estimate got converted to an invoce but now I can't get it back. I already spent 2 hours fixing the estimate because of another stupid bug that it has had since 2018 . Now I have to do it all over again??

I have only been using it for 1 day and it is by far the worst experience. How is this the "industry standard"? It would be easier to manage an entire business in Excel than deal with this time sink

Currently, there's no option to convert the invoice back to an estimate. For now, you can recreate the estimate and delete the invoice.

As for the issue of the estimate getting converted into an invoice without your knowledge, you can review the audit log to see who made changes to your transactions and what they did.

Furthermore, we recognize how the functionality to change the product or service on an invoice line item without deleting its description, quantity, and rate can help streamline your business tasks. That said, I suggest sending your input to our product development team for review and consideration.

Here's how:

Open QBO.
Navigate to the Gear icon and choose Feedback.
Enter your comments or suggestions.
Click Next to submit.

just mark it as pending. It wont show up in the sales until its taken out of pending status. I do this often when I want to make it easy to send an invoice right after job completion.
