Hi Jmercer.

Welcome to the community.

Let’s work together on how to set up shift differentials for your associates.

Currently QuickBooks Time does not support a shift differential feature. However, you can use custom fields as a workaround to manually track and manage these differentials.

Here’s how:

  1. Login to your QuickBooks Time account.
  2. Navigate to Feature Add-ons from the left-hand menu, then select Custom Fields.
  3. Click on +Add Field and Add Field Anyway.
  4. Enter a Field Name and add an Item.
  5. Once completed, click Save.

In QBO, you can either setup a new pay rate for employees or create a service item for customers.

Please know that extra hours for shift differential must be manually added to timecards, as automation is not supported.

QBO states it is retiring QBO time soon, but there is no way to create timesheet GROUPs or assign employees to created timesheet GROUPS in the new in system QBO time options. The new in system shows the timesheet GROUPs create in QBO Time pulled in but does not have a way to create a new timesheet GROUP or assign and employee to that new timesheet GROUP so how will that be done when QBO retires QBO Time???. They need to add a way to cerate timesheet GROUPs in the new in QBO time system and away to assign employees to GROUPs.
