Hello there, Murray.

Before we proceed, did you encounter any errors during the import of your bank statement? This information will help us provide you with accurate assistance.

I noticed that SIAB asked about the file format of your bank statement. This is very important because QuickBooks supports specific file formats for importing transactions.

To help prepare your file for a smooth import, here are some important tips for formatting your file:

  • Your file should include either 3 columns (Date, Description, Amount) or 4 columns (Date, Description, Credit, and Debit).
  • Ensure the Date is in the same format throughout the file (e.g., DD/MM/YYYY). If your file includes the day of the week (e.g., 20/11/2018 TUE), split the date and the day into separate columns.
  • Remove any numbers from the Description column to prevent errors.
  • Credit and Debit columns should not contain the word “amount” in the headers, and any blank cells with zero (0) should be left empty.
