Question

If the QB Milage deduction for 2025 says $9418.68, but when I review to send to TT it says that my milage deduction is $2453 - why won't it transfer the correct amount?

Hello there, @inspector11_2. Mileage discrepancies between QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) and TurboTax usually pop up because of trip status or the date filters you set.

If you use your vehicle only for business, you can deduct the whole cost. But if it’s mixed use, it can only deduct the business-related expenses.

QBSE calculates mileage using the standard deduction method, and when filing taxes, TurboTax or your accountant can help determine the best method for you.

Categorizing vehicle expenses in QuickBooks allows you to track specific costs and mileage, which are reflected in the financial reports under vehicle expenses. Also, some costs, such as penalties and loan principal, can't be deducted from your taxes. Check the IRS website for the latest rules on vehicle deductions.
