I am paying for all sorts of premium everything and I'm still bombarded and interrupted with popups. Messes with my flow, messes with my brain and messes with my emotions because I am SO SICK OF THEM I GET ANGRY.

There's no single setting in QuickBooks Online that turns off all in-app ads and promotional notifications. That said, here are the most effective steps for reducing them.

Turn off personalized ads: the closest thing to an off-switch

This is the step most people miss. It won't eliminate every in-product banner, but it's the strongest control currently available:

  1. Select the Gear icon in the upper right.
  2. Go to Account and settings, then the Advanced tab.
  3. Select Marketing preferences (this opens your Intuit account settings).
  4. Select Preferences, then scroll to Personalized ads.
  5. Switch off both Intuit products and services and Third-party products and services.

Changes save automatically and can take up to 48 hours to fully take effect.

Dismiss individual ads: QuickBooks remembers your choice

Selecting X or No thanks on a popup doesn't just close it for that session. QuickBooks is designed to remember your choice so that specific notification won't come back. It takes a little time to work through them, but they do clear out.

Use your browser's popup blocker

A browser-level popup blocker can stop true popup windows from appearing, though it won't catch banners that are built directly into the QuickBooks interface. To enable it:

  • Chrome: Select the three-dot menu, go to Settings, then Privacy and security, then Site settings, and set Pop-ups and redirects to Blocked.
  • Firefox: Select the three-line menu, go to Settings, then Privacy & Security, and check Block pop-up windows.
  • Safari: Go to Safari, then Settings for This Website, and block pop-ups from there.

Request a permanent off-switch

If you'd like Intuit to add a setting to disable these notifications entirely, the most direct way to make that happen is to tell the product team. Requests like this are considered based on volume, so every submission counts:

  1. Select the Gear icon in the upper right.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Describe your suggestion and select Next to submit.

You can also track existing feature requests and vote on ideas at feedback.qbo.intuit.com; adding your vote to an existing request for this carries the same weight as submitting new feedback.

Let us know if a specific popup keeps reappearing after you've dismissed it and we can look into that further.

Hello Timzmum,

Your satisfaction is important to us, and I'd like to provide you with some helpful information about the displayed ads on QuickBooks Online (QBO).

The tip advertisements window is designed to offer guidance on optimizing your use of QuickBooks Online. While there isn't currently an option to fully disable these ads, you can dismiss them by clicking the X or No, thanks buttons and preventing them from appearing again. Another option is to explore adding a third-party ad blocker to your browser.

However, please know that you can send feedback to our development engineers for this feature to be included in future updates. To share your thoughts with us, please visit the page where you can post your comments to our product engineers. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, located at the top right corner.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Enter your suggestions/comments and click Submit.

Please be aware that future requests are considered based on volume and undergo testing before implementation. You can track the status of your request through our customer Feedback for QuickBooks Online.

In the meantime, you might want to visit our QuickBooks Blog for the latest innovations and product news.

We have a dedicated Community to ensure that your concerns are heard. This thread is always open for more pop-up ads issues and any QuickBooks-related queries. I'll be right here to assist you further. Stay safe.

"Your satisfaction is important to us" based on my experience this is a lie. Flat out. No dispute.

"The tip advertisements window is designed to offer guidance on optimizing your use of QuickBooks Online"

This is not true either. It is distracting, intrusive, unhelpful and unwanted. It detracts from my ability to do my work, and is the opposite of "optimixing"
