Mortgage Payments with Escrow and Interest
Hello,
I’m trying to set up a mortgage account that includes escrow and interest. Could someone tell me if this is correct? I set up the account as a Long-Term Liability with sub accounts as Interest, Escrow and Principle. I use a check for my payment out of my checking account and split the payment for Interest, and Principle. That accounts correctly...but the escrow does not. I need the portion of my payment that is for Escrow to add to its account, and Property Taxes paid to subtract from the Escrow.
Could someone explain if this is an incorrect method and suggest how it should be done? Thanks for any assistance…
