New Update of Shopify Connector has broken imports of transactions as Invoices
The latest update of the Shopify Connector by Inuit in September of 2026 has replaced the ability of a user to configure if shopify transaction are imported as sales receipts or invoices, with an automatic decision to import B2B transactions as invoices, and B2C transactions as Sales Receipts. The prior version had a configuration option to allow transactions to be imported as either Invoices or Sales Receipts.
The designation of a customer in Shopif as B2B or B2C requires that a customer have a company and fill out a form prior to buying in Shopify. This is a Shopify requirement so unless a customer fllows the Shopify manual forms process, all new customers end up as B2C in Shopify. This results in all new customer transactions being imported as sales receipts, and it is currently not possible to configure the connector to import the shopify transaction as an invoice for B2C customers.
The impact on our company is huge as we have all of our workflows and processes set to use invoices (we only use sales receipts for our front office POS sales, which is a tiny fraction of our sales. We need all transactions from Shopify to be imported as Invoices, and now we can’t get this from the connector.
The result is that we have to delete the connector and go back to manually entering each Shopify transaction in QBO.
Everyone that is using the new connector is being impacted by this decision by Intuit.
As users we must request Intuit to allow US the USERS to determine how we want to import Shopify transactions, and if they want to allow us to use the differentiation of B2C and B2B customers that is great, but we should be able to choose how these transaction are imported (invoice or sales receipt) not for them to dictate how.
