I can not get Quickbooks to perform the online backup.  It keeps coming back with a failed message.  Is there a step I am missing?

Thank You

Welcome to the Community, Tiffanyshaw. I appreciate your detailed information about what's happening.

If you're using Intuit Data Protect for the online back up, I'd initially recommend making sure Windows Firewall isn't blocking the backup. Intuit Data Protect will need access to your firewall.

Here's how to add important files to Windows firewall:

  1. Use the Windows key on your keyboard, then type "Firewall" in the Search field.
  2. Go to Allow an app through Windows Firewall.
  3. Click Allow another app.
  4. Choose Browse and go to Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Intuit\Data Protect.
  5. Highlight QBIDPservice.exe and hit Open.
  6. Pick Network types and tick the Private checkbox.
  7. Select Add.
  8. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for the files IBUenghost.exe and IntuitDataProtect.exe. If you see a message saying the files already exist, you’re all set.

After allowing Intuit Data Protect to access your Windows Firewall, try to back up with Intuit Data Protect again. If the problems continue, begin with Solution 2 - Make sure IBuEngHost.exe isn’t running as a Windows user in our Unable to back up with Intuit Data Protect article.
