QBO Commerce Amazon Data Mapping to QBO

Hello All,

I just started to use QBO after many years. I have setup Amazon connection to bring data into QBO from our Amazon Seller account. That was pretty simple and worked well.

In Amazon, I am able to download the settlement transactions and I have been able to reconcile the data to what Amazon shows on it summary dashboard for Settlements.

My issue is I been trying to reconcile how QBO classifies this data into Sales, Discounts, etc. The actual cash deposits from Amazon is always correct when posting into QBO and a few of the other categories (e.g. Cost of Advertising). The Sales, Discounts, Shipping and a few other key accounts are showing up as different amounts then what appears in Amazon. I spend many a hours trying to decipher this with no luck.

So my question to the community does anyone understand how QBO converts the Amazon settlement data to QBO accounts?

Thanks for the quick reply.

I am a little confused. Generally a third party application sends data in a standard format and the receiving application is responsible for handling how it is mapped in their software since each receiving application handles the data differently. I have a extensive background in IT and been working with financial systems for many decades and this is how it is normally handle.

Since this is integration provided by QBO, not another 3rd party, I would expect someone at QBO to know how the data is mapped.

While I am making a big assumption, I would have thought the data our using is basically the same data that I can download (GET_V2_SETTLEMENT_REPORT_DATA_FLAT_FILE_V2).

So not to be rude, this is something QBO should be able to explain and not try and push me to go back to Amazon.

QB Commerce offers limited functionality. Consider exploring third-party connectors to compare results.

I have looked at 2 other 3rd party connectors, but since we are just starting out, the cost seems expensive at this stage so trying to see if we can get QBO to work at least in the short term.

If you are working solo, you can use QB Desktop with a single user with a 3rd party connector to sync with Amazon and compare them. Your cost will be lower than QBO Plus.

@DantheMan-2 I am wondering if you ever got a good answer for the question about how the data is mapped. I am truly confused and for things like advertising they aren't brought in as advertising. Just curious if you got a solid answer or if I need to go back to my excel spreadsheet!

Hey Dan,

I had the same problem when I connected my Amazon account to QuickBooks Online. The total deposit would come through correctly, but the details like sales, discounts, shipping, and fees never seemed to match what I saw in Amazon. I spent hours trying to figure out how QuickBooks was mapping everything, and honestly, it just didn’t make sense.

I ended up using a tool called Synder, and it completely changed the game for me. Synder pulls in all the Amazon data and maps it clearly to the right categories in QuickBooks, just like how Amazon reports them. Sales show up as sales, discounts as discounts, shipping as shipping - everything is broken down properly.

What really helped is that Synder lets you customize and control how the data is categorized, so you’re not stuck trying to guess where numbers are coming from. It made reconciling everything so much easier, and I finally felt confident that my books were accurate.
