Request for Support – Updating Company Files from ANG to XCG (New Currency) in QuickBooks Desktop
Dear Intuit Support Team,
I hope this message finds you well.
I am writing to report a critical issue that has arisen due to the recent national currency change in Curaçao and Sint Maarten. Our local currency has officially transitioned from the Netherlands Antillean Guilder (ANG) to the Caribbean Guilder (XCG). This change impacts all financial transactions, reporting, and accounting within our business environment.
We currently use QuickBooks Desktop for our financial administration, and we have encountered the following major challenges:
Issue Description
XCG Not Available in QuickBooks Desktop:
In the Edit > Preferences > Multiple Currencies section, the new currency XCG is not listed as an available currency.
As a result, we are unable to switch our home currency from ANG to XCG within our existing company file setup.
Currency Change Restriction:
QuickBooks Desktop does not currently allow changing the home currency of an existing company file once it has been set.
The only workaround suggested is to create a new company file with XCG as the base currency.
This approach would require duplicating all customers, vendors, chart of accounts, open balances, and transaction history, which is highly inefficient and error-prone, especially for businesses with years of data and complex records.
Request for Assistance
We kindly request your assistance in the following:
Incorporation of the XCG Currency in QuickBooks Desktop:
We request that XCG (Caribbean Guilder) be added to the list of supported currencies in upcoming versions and updates of QuickBooks Desktop.
This is essential for compliance with the monetary authorities in Curaçao and Sint Maarten, as well as for ongoing use of QuickBooks in the region.
Guidance or Tool to Convert Existing Company Files:
Is there a recommended procedure, tool, or professional service available from Intuit that would allow us to convert existing company files from ANG to XCG?
We are looking for a solution that avoids creating duplicate records and maintains the integrity of our financial history, customer/vendor relations, and account structures.
We truly value QuickBooks as a vital tool in our accounting operations and hope that Intuit will support this necessary currency transition in a timely and practical manner. This issue is impacting many businesses in our region, and your support would be greatly appreciated.
Please let us know if any additional information is required or if there is a support path we can follow to escalate this matter.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
