Script to change to multiuser mode

I have a problem where an admin that works late, keeps the company file in single user mode. Users that start working at 6am cannot login, and at that time there is no admin around to change to multiuser.

It would be helpful if there was a way to automate changing the file back to multiuser at midnight, for example. Is there a way to implement that?

I wish that any operation that requires locking the file access "single mode", would prompt the user at the end of the operation to unlock the file or switch back to "multiuser". It should only stay in single mode if the user initiated the single mode state. Maybe it would be an easier concept to get if those modes would be called locked and unlocked. This way auto-lock will auto-expire.

Your idea to have the option to auto-switch user mode based on the time the administrator sets it and your suggestion about prompting the user to unlock the file after using it is great, @ba7.

I think this could really help you get things done more easily and on time. With that in mind, I recommend submitting direct feedback to our Product Development Team to assess your suggestion and see if this can elevate customer experience in using QuickBooks.

Here's how:

  1. On the upper tabs, go to the Help icon.
  2. Click Send Feedback Online, then Product Suggestion.
  3. Enter your product recommendation in the box.
  4. Once done, Send Feedback.
