I'm glad you reached out to us about tax ID and filing 1099s, usersudhir-arora. I'd be happy to provide some clarification on this.
You don't need to collect a tax ID specifically for QuickBooks in order to file 1099s for your contractors. The key is having accurate contractor information to ensure proper 1099 reporting.
In case you are attempting to file a 1099 for QuickBooks or Intuit, please note that payments made to C Corporations and S Corporations generally do not require the issuance of a 1099-NEC form.
Although, the following payments made to corporations must generally be reported on Form 1099-MISC:
Cash payments for the purchase of fish for resale are reported in box 11.
Medical and healthcare payments are reported in box 6.
Substitute payments instead of dividends or tax-exempt interest are reported in box 8.
Gross proceeds paid to an attorney reported in box 10.
Let me know if you have any other questions related to QuickBooks Online, usersudhir-arora. I'd be happy to provide additional assistance on 1099 filing, managing contractors, or any other features in QBO.
