Let's figure out why your bills change to receipts, kate.

When uploading bills to QuickBooks Online  (QBO), upload them from the Expenses tab, then Bills to ensure they come in as bills.

Since your bills are changed to receipts, we can perform basic troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue.

First, delete the entries from the Receipts tab. Here's how:

  1. Go to Transactions and tap the Receipts tab.
  2. Locate and select the receipts that should be entered as bills.
  3. Beside every receipt you need to correct, hit Delete under the Action column.

Then, reupload the bills by signing in to your account using a private or incognito window to check if this issue is browser-related. To save time, use either of these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

If it works fine, go to your original browser and clear its cache to start fresh. You can also use another supported browser to narrow down the result.

Moreover, I'll add this article to help you review and categorize your bills and receipts in QBO into the correct accounts: Categorize online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
