When the Receipt Snap feature shows an error and duplicates a receipt, it usually means the receipt was uploaded right before the error popped up, so retrying adds a second copy. Here is how you can easily clean up those duplicate receipts and help stop it from happening again.
Remove the duplicate receipt
- Open the QuickBooks mobile app and go to Menu, then Receipt snap.
- Select the For Review tab.
- Look for the duplicate receipt, as both copies will appear here.
- Before adding or matching a receipt, confirm you're selecting the one you want to keep. Do not add both.
- If both copies were already added, head over to the Reviewed tab, find the extra one, swipe it to undo, and move it back to For Review.
On the web, you can also review and manage receipts at All apps > Accounting > Receipts.
Refresh the app data to reduce future errors
If the error and duplicate pattern keeps happening, refreshing the app's data can help:
On Android:
- In the QuickBooks app, select the Gear icon.
- Go to Settings, then select Refresh Data and tap Yes.
On iOS:
- In the QuickBooks app, select Menu.
- Go to Help & Feedback, then select Refresh Data and tap Refresh.
After refreshing, restart your device and reopen the app. If the issue continues, uninstall and reinstall the QuickBooks mobile app.
Alternative: upload receipts directly from your computer
If the mobile snap continues to create errors, you can upload receipts from your computer browser instead:
- Go to All apps, then Accounting, then Receipts.
- Select Upload from computer or Upload from Google Drive.
- Choose your receipt file (PDF, JPEG, JPG, GIF, or PNG — one receipt per file).
If the duplicate issue keeps happening after refreshing and reinstalling, we recommend getting in touch with QuickBooks support and sharing the exact error message. That will give them what they need to look into this further for you. Please let us know if you have any other questions!
