Question

My system undeposited funds account is missing. I only see a manually created account. Am I right that this typically requires back-end enablement?

No, there's no need for back-end enablement as Undeposited Funds is a default account in any QuickBooks Online account.

Some accounts use different name terminology for Undeposited Funds (such as "Payments to Deposit"). Another possibility is that this account was manually edited or renamed. However, we can still locate and determine whether it was changed or has a different name, as its detailed type will remain the same.

You can check the Audit Log to find out who made the changes and when, or run an Account List report to locate the account.

Here's how:

  1. From Chart of Accounts, click Run Report.
  2. You'll be routed to the Account List report; select the Filter icon.
  3. In the first box under "Select how you want to filter your data," choose Detailed Type.
  4. Then, in the third box, select Undeposited Funds. Close the Filter window.
  5. Within the Account List page, you'll see the Undeposited Funds account under its current name..

Once you figure out its current name, you can go back to the Chart of Accounts and search for the name. You may also edit and change it back to its original name (Undeposited Funds).
