Can anyone help in this: I'm customizing the default profit and loss report. when I filter by customers, it removes the expenses! on what basis does it do that? and why?

One of the important things that business owners look for is expenses. That said, showing up the expense transactions in the Profit and Loss (P&L) report is my focus here. 

Here are some things you can check to ensure the expenses transactions will show in the P&L report: 

1. The customer must have transaction expenses within the reporting period you choose.
2. The Distribution Account should filter it correctly. You can choose All to display all the accounts or Income/Expenses Account for specific transactions. 
3. Other Accounting methods, Rows/Columns, and Filter fields should customize precisely too.
