Question

Did QBO change the method of merging classes? It used to be that you could name it the same name and it would give you the option to merge.

The method for merging list items like Accounts, Customers, and Vendors remains the same. However, please note that merging classes is not possible. Doing so will trigger an error stating the name is already in use. This is because the system is designed to keep classes independent so that your transactions stay organized and easy to track on your reports.

Alternatively, you can clean up your list by manually moving your transactions to the class you want to keep. Once moved, you can disable the old class by going to the Gear icon > All Lists > Classes. From the dropdown menu, select Make Inactive.

Once a class is inactive, it will disappear from your daily menus while remaining available in your records if you ever need to reactivate it.
