I’m trying to upload journal entries through an Excel sheet. When I select the Account Receivable account, QuickBooks asks me to enter a customer name. I already selected a name in the sheet, but it still requires me to choose one manually. Could you please help me fix this issue?

Welcome to the Community forum, Zeinab.

The issue you're experiencing is likely due to a mismatch or error in the customer's name field within your Excel sheet, or it could be related to the mapping process.

When posting to Accounts Receivable (A/R) in QuickBooks, you must link the entry to a specific customer. This linkage is essential for tracking the individual balance owed by that customer in your sub-ledger. If the name provided in your Excel sheet is unrecognized or incorrectly formatted, QuickBooks will require you to select it manually.

Please verify that the spelling and capitalization of the customer name in your Excel file exactly match the name in your QuickBooks Customer list. Even a single extra space or a punctuation difference can lead to an error. By ensuring that the customer name is an exact match and checking for other potential formatting issues, your Accounts Receivable entries should link automatically without needing to select a name manually.
