Question

If I did not close up my prior year period, I cannot print General Ledger or Transaction report correctly. The P&L will be wrong for it carry forward. What should I do?

Hi, jackie27.

I can help you print your reports without carrying other information forward. Let's get started.

To be able to print the reports you need, you might want to close the previous period and reopen it after printing them.

To close the books, here's how:

  1. Go to Settings ⚙ and then select Accounts and Settings.
  2. Select the Advanced tab.
  3. Select Edit ✎ in the Accounting section.
  4. Select the Close the books checkbox.
  5. Enter a closing date. Give yourself a comfortable deadline. You shouldn't need to edit any transactions before this date. Your new bookkeeping work will start after this point.
  6. Select the Allow changes after viewing a warning and entering a password option from the drop-down menu if you want to require a password before editing your closed books.
  7. Select Save and then Done.

Once closed, you can try to access the reports and print it. After that, you can reopen your books. You can go through these articles for your references about this process:

Let me know how it goes by leaving a reply below. I'd be more than willing to lend you a hand. Have a good one.
