How do I add an accounts payable account in my chart of accounts? It won't let me edit any to change the type to a payable account.

In this case, you'll have to create a new account. A few rules must be followed when managing your Chart of Accounts. An Accounts Payable account type can not be changed. Follow the steps in this article for adding your new account if you're not sure how; Add to or edit the Chart of Accounts. You can make the other inactive if you aren't using it through the action column dropdown menu.
